We stayed in a very nice B&B, walked around the town, and went for a tasty dinner at an Italian restaurant.

5 - Isle of Skye : Derek and Jodi took a side trip from Elgin and went to the Isle of Skye for two nights and three days. Our train was late getting into Inverness, so Scot Rail threw us in a taxi and chased down the train, which we caught at a teeny little place called Achnasheen.
We stayed in Kyleakin the first night, then onto the Skeabost Country House, a magnificant old hunting lodge.
We hiked up to the Old Mann of Storr, visited Dunvegan Castle, visited the Talisker Whisky Distillery, and drove a car that was much too big for the narrow little roads.

1 - London : June 8 and 9, 2009
London was a bit of whirlwind stop. An overnight flight left us jetlagged, and with only 24 hours in the city, we ran around and saw as much as we could. This included the British Museum, the Parliament Buildings, Trafalgar and Leicester squares, and a few things in between.

2.1 - Margam Abbey and Castle : A day trip from Cardiff took us to to Margam Abbey and Castle, via the small town of Bridgend. The Abbey was originally constructed in 1147 and much of it lies in ruin, while the main church is still in operation. The castle was built as a "Victorian era country house" constructed between 1930 and 1940. An even older abbey lay in ruins at the top of a hill (and required a hike to get to) overlooking the valley and ocean.
